Lord, Teach me Your Ways

"Not that I had already attained, either were already perfect..." Phil. 3:12. The Lord is showing me that I came here with the intention of becoming perfect. Becoming a perfect human being, making all the right decisions, saying all the right things. Oswald gave me a bit of a heads up. "Christian perfection is not, and never can be, human perfection. Christian perfection is the perfection of a relationship to God which shows itself amid the irrelevancies of human life. I am called to live in perfect relation to God so that my life produces a longing after God in other lives, not admiration for myself." I was becoming very discouraged here because I kept messing up, doing the wrong things, trying to be perfect; in short, I was seeking to please men, and not the Lord. I was also trying to become obedient to God by my own means and actions. Yet, "I, a guilty sinner, can never get right with God. The only way is by the death of Jesus Christ. I can never be right with God because of my obedience; which of us could ever obey God to absolute perfection?" I have broken all of the Lord's commandments. It is by His rich mercy and grace that I am saved and am filled with His peace. I don't have to strive for human perfection. I have to strive for a relationship with the Living God, and constantly depend on the Lord to guide me through each day!
Read the genealogy of Jesus Christ, Matthew 1:1. Which people from the Bible are in there? Does this touch your heart? Does this cause you to rejoice in the Lord's goodness and grace to His people?!?
I wrote a poem last week, about Christmas and what the Lord has been teaching me these last months:

The Word is Christ
Lord, teach me Your ways, that I may know
Why You sent Your Son, down to earth so low
Please touch my heart, with the knowledge of You
That I may see, the work that You do
It begins in the garden with Adam and Eve
And ends with the cross, to those who believe
Man fell into sin - to temptations gave in
He turned his own way - and chose to disobey
Through the history of man, this is their course
Through Cain, Sodom and Israel, we are filled with remorse
Because here the Lord is showing us, the way we also choose
We are just like the Israelites, His laws and grace we abuse
There is none righteous, no not one
And that is why the Lord had to send His Son
Man fell into sin - to temptations gave in
He turned his own way - and chose to disobey
He came as a baby, to humble us so
Born in a stable, so that we may know
That Christ came to save, the lowly in heart
To those who see that they, back to dust depart
The Word is Christ. ASK, SEEK and KNOCK!
That the Lord would bestow, His grace to unlock
The hardness in our hearts. For this we should pray
That we may wait on the Lord, and He would teach us to say:
Lord, teach me Your ways, that I may know
Why You sent Your Son, down to earth so low
May it fill my heart, with such wonder and awe
That it would be the most Beautiful I ever saw.

I must go and pick up the kids from school. I wanted to write more about what's happening, but I'll do that soon!
May the Lord teach you His ways!
Love Yolanda
