Off to Holland

My dear friends and family,
I'm off to Holland in a couple hours with the Lord's guiding. I wanted to share some scriptures with you before I go, and also to remind myself that God is in control and I don't have to rely on my own understandings, but only Him. In my devotional last night, I read from John 21 specifically verse 18 where it talks about becoming older. The main point in the devotional emphasizes our need to become older, so that we rely less on ourselves and more of God; so that we become less of ourselves and more like Christ. This is how I pray God will work in me on this trip, that I learn to deny myself and take up my cross and follow Christ. I certainly can't do that on my own, it is only by the strength and grace of God, and I would very much appreciate all of your prayers!
I had the great blessing of climbing Mt. Cheam with my dad this week. What an adventure! And a beautiful landscape that proclaims the glory of God! I'm reading "My Utmost for His Highest" by Oswald Chambers, and this devotional is inspiringly talking about the spiritual aspect of mountains. In one of the passages, Mark 9:2, it says how as Christian's, we would like to always be on the top of the mountain in our relationship with God. But that's not how it works. God made us to be going through the valley's most of the time, and this is where the trials and hard times are. The valley's are made to build our character, which produces perseverance and hope. When we are on top of the mountain we see God's glory, but when we are in the valley's, we live for God's glory. God will help us to joy in our hard times, because He will show us that these are sent from Him in order for us to rely on Him more. God is always in control. He will never leave or forsake us. He fills us with His Holy Spirit, and His mercy and amazing grace fall richly on us. God is an Amazing God!
Please keep me in your prayers and let me know if I can pray for you!
God bless,
Yolanda
